Blog - Gumbo Goes for the Gold
What’s fun to do at the beach in February? Eat a mess of gumbo, that’s what. The Sandestin Gumbo Festival has been known as one of the largest and most popular winter food events along Florida’s Emerald Coast. It kicks off on Friday, February 17th with a delicious Seafood Boil from 5-7 p.m. at Hammerhead’s Bar and Grill at Baytowne Wharf.
On Saturday, February 18th from 12-4 p.m. is the Main Event. Local restaurants from Bud and Alley’s in Seaside to Harry T’s in Destin will compete to win a number of prizes in a relaxed, Mardis Gras style atmosphere where drinks, music and beads flow. Sample a variety of gumbo and vote your favorite as the “People’s Choice” winner! Dark or light roux? Chicken, sausage or seafood? Celebrity judges will name the “Area’s Best.” Gulf Coast restaurants will be featured along with live music and children’s activities. Guests will enjoy live music from Dikki Du and the Zydeco Krewe, family activities, and a fun afternoon of gumbo tasting. Tickets on sale now.« Back to Articles
